Frequently Asked Questions

What is the necessary equipment to watch the satellite broadcasting?
Satellite dish gathers very weak microwave signals at high frequency coming from the satellite and reflects on the location point of LNB. Satellite dish is positioned on the roof or on the wall. LNB strengthens the microwave signals at high frequency gathered by the satellite dish and takes them to a lower frequency band that can be processed by the receiver and transfer them from the antenna cable to the receiver. LNB is attached to the hand of the satellite dish. Receiver prepares the signals coming from LNB in a way that Television can show and thus you watch the microwave signals coming from the satellite as images on your TV. The connection is done between LNB and Receiver with an antenna cable and F-Connector plugs are attached on both ends of the cable.

What kind of antenna should I use to receive the digital broadcast?
You can use any kind of offset or parabole antenna. However the quality is more important than the size of the satellite dish. Having a quality antenna affects the signal receiving power. For example a good quality satellite dish of 120 cm can provide the efficiency of an ordinary antenna of 170 cm. Therefore, while purchasing a satellite dish, you must consider its quality more than its size.

How many antennas can I attach to a satellite receiver?
You can attach eight satellite receives at the most. For this, a 8x1 Diseqc wrench must be used. Thus when one of your satellite antennas, for example is directed to TÜRKSAT satellite, your other antennas may look at other satellites. Thanks to this, the number of channels you can watch will increase.

Can I receive all the broadcast with single satellite antenna?
No. You can receive the TV and radio broadcast of only one satellite with single satellite antenna. In order to receive the broadcast of a different satellite, you must turn your satellite antenna towards the relevant satellite. You will see all the broadcast of the satellite in the program list of your digital satellite receiver automatically. On the other hand, there should not be any physical barrier like building or tree that will prevent the receiving of the signal. (This information is valid for single vision and single lnb installed antennas, it is not valid for multiple vision and multiple lnb installed antennas.)

Which satellites’ broadcast I can watch with a satellite antenna of 90 cm?
With an antenna of this size you can watch all the channels of Türksat, most of the Hotbird satellite and Eutelsat W3 satellite broadcast that shows Digiturk broadcast. However in the east of our country, bigger sizes of satellite antennas are needed for Hotbird satellites. While the channels of Arabian and Indian Peninsula are watched with a satellite of 90 cm easily, in the western regions bigger sizes of antennas are needed for these broadcast.

What kind of satellite dish I should use?
Offset dishes, because they are positioned straight, do not cause snow accumulation on their surfaces. Because of this reason, in the regions with lots of snowing offset type antennas should be preferred. On the other hand, regions that are very windy and humid must prefer parabole type antenna. Offset antennas, because they do not cause between satellite and satellite dish just like LNB and feed sticks in comparison to paraboles, work more efficiently. However, its focal distance and focus is more sensitive than parabole’s.
